Back to School
Everyday Church volunteers packed supplies to share with local public school teachers. Teachers and administrators, we’re praying for you as the school year begins. Thanks for the work you do for the children in our neighborhood!

On the tenth anniversary of those terrible attacks, we’re going to skip the sermon and instead roll up our sleeves to prepare and ship dozens of care packages to soldiers serving overseas. This is a great opportunity for friends and families to honor 9-11 and serve together. Tragedy strikes like lightning– we can’t control it. But we can always choose to love. When we do, Love Prevails.
When: 9-11-11, at 11:00am
Where: 4862 Broadway * (map).

This Fall, Everyday Church is starting an action-oriented series, full of opportunities to learn by doing. Love is much more than an idea or a feeling. “For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power” (1 Corinthians 4:20, NLT). In short, love is something you do.
Specifics to come, but in the meantime view the schedule at our Gatherings page.

This weekend we’re offering our second “Use Your Brain Saturday“ (8/13) to help neighborhood students stay sharp on academics while school’s out. Students and volunteers can expect a lot of fun too, with educational games and a healthy dose of special interest activities like Sports, Origami, and Video Production. The program runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., with lunch provided. And it’s all free! When young people succeed, it’s good for everyone, and we want to do whatever we can to help.

The mural we’ve been working on isn’t just making a public school a little prettier– it’s adding some color to the pages of news media too! Thanks much to artist Tim Parsley, local volunteers, and serving teams from partner churches.

That’s what a picture’s worth, right?
When we think about communicating the Gospel to people– the good news about Jesus– how many words is servanthood worth?
