New Series for Everyday Kidz: Quest for the Kingdom

Following Jesus is more like a grand adventure than a checklist of do’s and don’t’s. Seeking the kingdom is a quest full of hidden dangers and glorious experiences.

In Quest for the Kingdom, Everyday Kidz will learn an age-appropriate version of the first three topics in our Grow series for adults (see Gatherings). Everyday Kidz will learn to develop healthy, spiritual friendships, to “stay the course” through prayer, and to prepare for life’s challenges by growing in knowledge.

If you’ve ever wished that the spiritual life was more like the great adventure stories of Fellowship of the Rings or Indiana Jones, take heart! In Christ, it is.

Out With The Old, And…

Everyday Groups 1… in with Everyday Groups!

We’re shifting our Home Groups into 3rd gear this New Year. Thus far, our groups have been mostly about genuine spiritual friendship and growing in knowledge. But there’s a third purpose to them and we’re ready to for it! We aren’t backing off from developing real community and exploring the Bible, but we’re going to start rolling up our sleeves together.

We’re going to change things. Help people. Serve our neighbors. Because God works primarily through everyday people, we’re challenging our Home Groups each to adopt a mission or a ministry– to identify a group of people to reach out to, or a contribution to make in Jesus’ name. We want to be a church that is famous for justice and mercy.

Everyday Groups 2To signify this change, we’re renaming our Home Groups. So, we don’t have Home Groups anymore. They’re done. Now we have Everyday Groups. That’s gonna take a little getting used to. If you catch us saying something about “Home Groups,” you have our permission chime in, “Uh, don’t you mean Everyday Groups? What’s a Home Group?”

Everyday Groups currently serve the youth in our neighborhood, children and families, and various areas justice and mercy. And there are others beginning to form! There are rumors of a Prayer group, a Spanish group, and an Arts group taking shape.

Everyday Groups 3We feel like we’re on the front end of something incredible. God is on the move through everyday people. There is an Everyday Group— right now, or maybe even one that doesn’t yet exist!– that needs your unique talents and strengths. This New Year, decide to make the Most Important One the most important one to you.

We’re going to be posting all the latest so you can continue to find your best fit. But don’t wait for that! Get involved and help us make God’s dreams come true. If you aren’t a part of an Everyday Group, then Contact Us.

Route 56 Goes Vertical

Everyday Kidz‘s new bible study for 5th and 6th grade students is taking young people to new heights!

In Route 56, children enjoy fun and enriching experiences, receive undivided attention from caring adults, and learn valuable wisdom from the Bible. We are currently studying the Book of Proverbs.

Together, young people make friends, make memories, and make a difference!

Know a 5th- or 6th-grader who would benefit from this? Get them involved!

Best Gift Ever: All Good Gifts

This week we welcome Nomi Network to share about their work freeing women from human trafficking. To learn more, go to www.nominetwork.org.

December may be the most chaotic time of the year. When we think about the first Christmas, we often think of it as peaceful, still, and calm. But in reality it was anything but peaceful, still or calm. It was chaotic!

A Christmas Service

In the hustle and bustle of office parties, family traditions, and gift-giving, don’t miss the Best Gift Ever.

Bring your family, your friends, or just bring yourself for a Christmas Service with Everyday Church. It’s good to block some time out now to focus on the things that really matter. Of course, we plan to have some fun too! Jesus’ birth brings “tidings of comfort and joy” after all…

When: December 23rd, 11a.m.

Where: 4862 Broadway *

Enjoy a Family Service, with Christmas Carols and a Story-time for the little ones (what does a father-son pair of Donkeys have to do with Christmas? You’ll find out!). We’ve also got some fun stuff planned, like a “nativity” Photo Booth, so you can capture some not-so-serious memories with your loved ones.

Jesus’ birth really is a reason to celebrate: he is the best gift ever!

“For God so loved the world that he GAVE his one and only Son…” (John 3:16).
