A Time to Grieve

*Español abajo*

Ecclesiastes 3… “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven…A time to cry & a time to laugh. A time to grieve & a time to dance.” During this global pandemic & wide-spread quarantine, the way we grieve has changed. We can’t gather together, share a meal, give & receive comforting hugs. Yet we must grieve. Together, we will share our grief & remember the hope we find in a God who both weeps with us & gives us a future beyond the pain of death.

If you have lost someone during this time & would like the service to include a photo & the name of your loved one, please contact us by email at dlolly@everydaycc.com by May 30th.

NYC Love Kitchen

*Sigue hasta abajo para Español*

Hello ECC Family,

In light of the Covid-19 crisis, our community is in more need of grab and go meals. The NYC Love Kitchen is planning on launching their mobile response this Monday, April 27th, 2020. Many of their clients are unable to walk to the locations to receive the necessary food, groceries and dry goods. They seek to implement a new technology system that will enable them to keep track of the specific needs the community is facing, We all want to love them carefully with spiritual help, physical sustenance and mental health. Now more than ever we need to come together in action.

They need volunteers to deliver bags to families in a contactless delivery, and they need financial support to make this initiative possible. Some volunteers will walk food to nearby families. Some will drive to those a little further away. Walkers and drivers are needed to deliver the tote bags of dry goods to the families, approximately 3 hrs of time. If you have a vehicle to use, great!

If you are safely able to help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Operation Exodus: Reading Buddies

Reading BuddiesOperation Exodus is a community of caring educators and mentors who believe that small improvements can have a big impact in the life of a child growing up in generational poverty.

The Reading Buddies program is a way that you can help as a volunteer. Reading with and to a child is the most effective way for this level to be increased, and why Reading Buddies are vital to improving these kids’ education!

We ask Reading Buddies to commit to one hour, once a week for the school year. No teaching is required… think of it like sharing a bedtime story. Hours for the program are Monday-Friday 3-4:30 and 5:15-6:30.

If you or your Everyday Group is interested in volunteering, email readingbuddies@operationexodus.org. You can also sign up here.

Medieval Festival Diaper Changing Station

Medieval Festival 2011-5Every year at the Medieval Festival that meets in Ft. Tryon Park, there are loads of mommas with babies that have some diapers that need to be changed. That’s why the Mom’s Refreshment group sponsors a Diaper Changing Station! This year the festival is on Sunday, October 4th. We’re looking for ladies who would be willing to borrow one of the lovely medieval costumes provided by the festival and give an hour of your afternoon to help some mommas out. You will get to host with somebody else too, which means some talking with another adult! So let Wendy know if you are interested in an hour shift. We will do 1 o’clock, 2, 3, 4, and 5 o’clock shifts.

Back to School Sunday: Sept 6

BackToSchool_titleInvesting in the next generation is one of the things we really care about. Educators have a very special place in our hearts.

Join us the last Sunday before NYC Public Schools begin for a panel discussion with some local educators about how God uses education to build young people up and grow his kingdom. We’ll take time to pray for educators, students, and parents (you know you need it!). We’ll give some gifts to any teachers who attend as a “thank you” for their important work– so invite your teacher friends along! And we’ll write encouraging notes for our own Everyday Kidz to brighten their first few days back and give a little courage to face a new grade or a new school. See you September 6 for Back to School Sunday.

Pray For Us: An Update From Nathan

CreativityThis Sunday (Aug 17th) the Everyday Creativity Group will be having our first service project, partnering with the Hudson Pointe Nursing Home in Riverdale. We’ll be having a help-portrait event to bring hope and encouragement to the residents. It’s a way to give the meaningful gift of a professional portrait to those who normally wouldn’t expect to receive one, no strings attached. There are a lot of logistics involved, and it’s our first time to do a project together. So please pray with me:

Father, thank you for the residents at Hudson Pointe. Use the Creativity Group to bring your love, hope & encouragement to them this Sunday in a special way. Provide for all the logistics, and bless Everyday Church’s continued partnership with Hudson Pointe. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ – Paul, Acts 20:35
