Values
We’re not sure what to call these…
Values, or Strategies, or How We Do Things, or Things We Really Care About… we’re not sure what to call them, but they’re important to us and shape everything we do. They are all inspired by Jesus’ final words to his disciples in Matthew 28:19-20:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
Embrace Diversity
God made and loves every man, woman, and child on earth. Faith in Christ is open to all people everywhere. We are devoted to nurturing a diverse faith family, and work hard to build bridges across cultural barriers.
Invest in the Next Generation
God cares especially for children, and we do too. We aren’t just thinking about today or tomorrow. We dream about impacting generations, one kid at a time, and so invest a ton of time, energy, and resources in developing young people.
Practice Radical Generosity
In addition to all the ways we generously serve our neighbors here in NYC, we (currently) give away 11% of our budget to things God cares about, like global outreach, and intend to increase that amount by at least 1% each year until we reach our goal of giving away 20% of our budget! And who knows? Once we hit our goal, maybe we’ll keep going. Hear more about that: Christmas Everyday
“baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Lead People Into Life-Changing Relationships
We want to lead people into life changing relationships with God and with one another. We think this is how people come to faith, and this is how people grow in their faith. Jesus’ approach to people was extremely relational, and we follow his example.
“and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
Teach People To Do All Jesus Commanded
Teaching is very important, and we value solid, engaging teaching. But we don’t just teach to know, we teach to do. That’s a subtle difference, but it’s a huge difference.
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Meet With God Regularly
We cannot do anything on our own, but Jesus promised to be with us. Everything we do is founded on and fueled by prayer.
These are the things We Really Care About, the things That Shape How We Do Things… whatever you want to call them, this is what we’re about. But we can only do these things together. We each have our own part to play. We challenge all participants of Everyday Church to engage four spiritual practices. Find our more here: Everyday Faith.
