Pray For Us: An Update From Wendy

State TestingFor most of us, this time of year means the hope of warm weather and baseball season coming soon. But for thousands of NYC students and teachers, it’s time for the stress of State Testing. The pressure for both students and teachers builds each year. Now, school funding, teachers’ jobs, and middle school and high school acceptance for students all are effected by the performance of kids in 3rd through 8th grades. Please pray for students and teachers this week as they prepare for the first week of testing on April 1-3.

Pray For Us: An Update From Larry

There is a dream in the back of our minds that goes something like this: everything really important to Everyday Church has an Everyday Group as its champion.

We currently have four groups championing four critical things (and a fifth in the works)…

Everyday Family Group: caring for parents and kids
Everyday Youth Group: mentoring middle school & high school students
Everyday Creativity Group: activating the creativity of God’s people
Everyday Neighbors Group: serving our neighbors
Everyday ??? Group: this up and coming group focuses on prayer and friendship among guys

We are just scratching the surface of the things God wants us to champion in this community and around the world. Here are some other groups we’re dreaming of…
* Global Outreach: leading Everyday Church in the global impact of our ministry
* Spanish: leading our church in cultural diversity, particularly Spanish speaking cultures
* Prayer: making prayer a deep and integral part of Everyday Church life
* Adventure: connecting city people with the beauty of nature and gift of adventure
I’m sure you have other possible groups in mind

Please pray for our current groups, future groups, our group leaders. Don’t be bashful. Ask God to do big things!

The High Schoolers in Everyday Youth Group are excited for this year’s summer conference called MOVE. The conference, in Maryland, is designed to help our youth figure out their place in this world and how God can and will use them to change it. There will be worship, preaching, small group study and community building, all with hundreds of other kids their age. Please pray that this trip would come together well logistically, and also that it would have a long lasting impact on the youth of Everyday Church.

Pray:

Every student connected to our community is able to attend.

This conference helps them grow in their relationship with Christ.

For the leadership of the conference, that they would be led by the Spirit in their preparation and planning.

Pray For Us: An Update From Chris

LeadersOur focus this year is on Leadership Development. Please stop what your doing, even if only for a couple of minutes, and Pray:

* For yourself; that God will disciple you and grow you.

* For our staff, as we put the finishing touches on our Leadership Development plan, and begin to invite people into the process.

* God would give people the spiritual gift of leadership.

* God would use THE STORY to help each of us find our story in His story.

* God would raise up new leaders at every level of leadership in our church.

* God would sustain, protect, and bless our leaders.

Our church runs on God’s response to prayer. Please do your part and fuel the fire!

Pray For Us: An Update From Nathan

The Story_small2Have you been reading The Story with us? Have you been able to find your place in God’s story? So far we’ve looked at several people: Adam, Eve, Noah, Abraham, Sarah and Joseph. Each character was a flawed, everyday person. But it was because they had a relationship with God that placed them as characters in God’s Story.

Everyday Church is just a young community of everyday Christians in a big city. And we may be tempted to believe that in the grand scheme of things, we don’t matter that much to what God is doing in the world. But that’s not true, because we’re not just living our own stories – we’re a part of God’s Story.

“We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their difference and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you. How? you ask. In Christ, God put the wrong on him who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God” (2 Corinthians 5:18-21 MSG).

Take a moment and pray that God would use us (including you!) to bring more people into His Story.

Staff & FamiliesHave you ever felt uncomfortable asking somebody to pray for you? It can make you feel vulnerable sharing your personal struggles. But, we all need prayer. This week I’d like to ask you to pray for the staff of Everyday Church.

There isn’t any terrible crisis that any of us are going through, but I know that your prayers for us are really important. Would you pray for our strength, health and rest? Pray for our marriages, families and relationships. Also, please pray for our relationship with God. Pray the Holy Spirit would give us power to accomplish the jobs that God has called us to.

The apostle Paul was one of the first church leaders and he understood the need for prayer. In his letter to the church in Ephesus he said, “At all times, pray by the power of the Spirit. Pray all kinds of prayers. Be watchful, so that you can pray. Always keep praying for all of God’s people. Pray also for me” (Ephesians 6:18).

So, please pray for me. Please pray for Chris, Larry, Nathan, Matt and Annie too. We will continue to pray for you.

Love, Wendy
