One of our strategies for accomplishing our mission of making apprentices of Jesus is embracing diversity. It’s why we offer simultaneous translation into Spanish during our services, and sing songs in both Spanish and English, for example. But we have a long way to go. Please pray with me:
“Father, please raise up leaders at every level of leadership in Everyday Church, who represent the beautiful ethnic, socio-economic, and cultural diversity of Your Image. Give us the wisdom and humility to learn from one another, and to honor one another. And please show me how I can take initiative in my own life to nurture relationships and reconciliation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Aug 20, 2014 | Global Impact, Prayer
There is some serious stuff going on in the world, and in our own country. Please take some time out from whatever you are doing and implore God to have mercy on:
* The doctors, aid workers, researchers, and policy makers who are working to get ahead of the Ebola Outbreak. Cry out to God for the 1,000s who are sick and dying, and for their loved ones.
* Iraq. The Yazidis, Christians, and other minorities targeted by ISIS. Pray for ISIS soldiers and leaders as well. Our battle is not against flesh and blood.
* For justice in the wake of the Michael Brown shooting. Not just retributive justice, but for the presence of peace and fairness. Racism is a terrible sin, and it burns underneath the surface of our country. Pray for the frustrated and disenfranchised who have no voice. Pray the powerful will have new hearts. Pray for justice.
* For God’s Kingdom to come, and his will to be done, here on earth as it is in heaven: Ukraine, Sudan, the Gaza strip… lift up world leaders, the poor, the victims, the perpetrators. Chris
Aug 15, 2014 | Community Impact, Everyday Groups, Prayer
This Sunday (Aug 17th) the Everyday Creativity Group will be having our first service project, partnering with the Hudson Pointe Nursing Home in Riverdale. We’ll be having a help-portrait event to bring hope and encouragement to the residents. It’s a way to give the meaningful gift of a professional portrait to those who normally wouldn’t expect to receive one, no strings attached. There are a lot of logistics involved, and it’s our first time to do a project together. So please pray with me:
Father, thank you for the residents at Hudson Pointe. Use the Creativity Group to bring your love, hope & encouragement to them this Sunday in a special way. Provide for all the logistics, and bless Everyday Church’s continued partnership with Hudson Pointe. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ – Paul, Acts 20:35
Aug 6, 2014 | Everyday Youth, Prayer
This past week we took the students of Everyday Youth Group to a Christ In Youth conference in Maryland. It was an amazing week. God challenged and stretched us, and healed wounds in our group.
* Praise God for all of the conviction that was felt by our group and the amazing conversations that took place.
* Ask the Lord to help all of our kids act upon their convictions– to live differently now back home with their families and friends, and to stay focused amid all the distractions everyday life brings.

Herrera, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic… that’s the destination of a last minute team from Everyday Church. We’re going to assist with some urgent projects at the school we’re partnering with in that neighborhood. The school has about 450 students, as well as teachers and administrators, in a severely poor area of the city.
After visiting in January, the Everyday Church Global Outreach Team selected this school as our initial focus for ministry in the DR. Everyday participants are already sponsoring kids at the school, and now we’re going back to serve.
Please pray for Holly, Mike, Bart and Larry as they prepare for this trip. Pray they are full of the Spirit and wisdom as they serve the school. Pray for safe travel, that the funds come together, and the trip is a blessing to the school and Everyday Church.
As God blesses us, may we bless the world.
