Pray For Us: An Update From Wendy

Andres BaptismThis last week our staff went to a conference in Florida about seeking and saving lost people. At the beginning of the week, I had hoped in Orlando I would find rest and sunshine. I didn’t really experience either. Instead, I felt convicted. I felt convicted that I can do more to help those who do not know Jesus’ love and sacrifice for them. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:13 that Christ’s love that compels us to no longer live for ourselves.

So let’s pray together: “Lord I know you love me. I pray that your love would compel me to no longer live for myself. Help me to live in a way that will help others learn about your love for them.

Pray For Us: An Update From Chris

This May 4th is our next Baptism Service. Some people have already made this important decision, and I’m sure others are considering it, but don’t feel “ready.” Maybe that’s you? It’s normal to feel that way. This is a very big deal, this joining Jesus in his death and resurrection, and we’re never “ready.” That’s the whole point. Baptism isn’t about what we can do. It’s about what Jesus has done for us.

Pray with me: “Father, please give the people who are planning to be baptized extraordinary peace and joy. Pour out your Spirit on them. And please prompt others to join them– to surrender to you and enjoy the freedom of your forgiveness. Amen.

Pray For Us: An Update From Nathan

Multi-Cultural“It makes me feel like I belong.”

Someone at ECC recently told me that they love singing songs in both English and Spanish. For them, being able to sing in Spanish communicates that they belong in this family. Like many others at our church, I don’t speak Spanish. But I can learn a song. It has blessed my life deeply on Sundays to hear everyone, of every ethnicity, singing out to Jesus in Spanish. I think it’s something very special about Everyday Church. Whether you speak English or Spanish, you belong.

When we started our first home group meeting, we had dual language Bibles. When we started singing songs together, we included Spanish songs. Now we have Spanish translation (thanks to the amazing Translation Team), and we’re continually adding new Spanish songs to our worship. But language is just the beginning.

Pray that God would make us, not just a multi-language or multi-ethnic church, but a truly multi-cultural church.

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”  Revelation 7:9-10

Family Prayer Brunch April 26

Family Prayer BrunchGod calls us all to be devoted to prayer.  As parents, part of our job of raising our kids is to teach them to be devoted as well. But sometimes praying with our children can be challenging. At the Family Prayer Brunch, we will provide some activities for kids of all ages, from babies to teenagers, to help get us praying together as families.

Pray For Us: An Update From Chris

Leadership DevelopmentOur focus in 2014 is on Leadership Development. Our staff has been hard at work refining our plan to develop leaders, and we’ve been asking God to create a culture at Everyday Church in which each “everyday person” reaches his or her God-given potential.

Please join me in praying: “Jesus, you taught us to pray Our Father would raise up workers to go into the harvest field. We pray that now! Holy Spirit, please work powerfully in our church. Raise people up. Prompt people to pursue you, to learn, to grow, and to take responsibility for leading others into life-changing relationships. We pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

Prayer Walk This Saturday

InwoodIn response to last week’s message (listen here), we’re going to pray like crazy this Saturday. Come ready to walk some laps around the neighborhood, and pray for our neighbors. I’ll have maps and great suggestions about how to pray ready to guide you. Together, we’ll encircle our neighbors with prayer.

Find more details on our calendar here: Prayer Walk

“If you’ll join me in praying like this, hold onto your socks. The early Christians devoted themselves to prayer, and God moved powerfully among them,” says Chris Travis.
