Pray For Us: An Update From Wendy

11150481_10102219167971694_7713864798572141561_nOver the past week I talked to several of our recently baptized members of the church and asked how they were doing. All of them told me of a recent increase in stress. Whether it was stress at work or with their health or with their family, they all noticed a difference since their baptism. One said, “I felt like Satan was attacking me as soon as I came up out of the water.” I believe she is right. Satan hates when we make Jesus the Lord of our lives.

But we can help by remembering to pray for them. Pray for their protection against Satan’s schemes. Pray that they would not forget Jesus’ love and grace for them even in times of stress. Your prayers really will make a difference.

Pray for Us: An Update From Larry

Mingling after service

I was chatting with a buddy at Everyday Church on Sunday. He recently changed jobs and is now working in the neighborhood. In the first week of work, he ran into three co-workers on the streets.

We live in a city of millions of people and yet we so frequently run into folks we know. I think God works that way. And it’s one of the things that makes Everyday Church, well, an everyday church! It’s about the lives we live every day, the way we walk the streets with eyes open looking for opportunities to build friendships with the people around us.

Lord, open our eyes. Help us see the people around us, our neighbors, as we walk the streets of our neighborhood. Use unique moments and street-side conversations to remind people they are known and cared for. I pray the Holy Spirit would lead us and that we would follow. Amen!

Enjoy the Spring, friends. And keep your eyes open!

Pray For Us: An Update From Nathan

028
This Easter Sunday, 6 people decided to go “all in” with Jesus through baptism! Romans 6:4 says: “For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives” (NLT). Baptism is an amazing picture of dying to our new lives so that we may live a new life for Jesus. Would you join me in praying for those who were baptized?

Lord Jesus, there is no God like you. In love, you paid the penalty for our sins. Your resurrection not only proves your power over death, but gives us new life! Let those who were baptized experience the fullness of the resurrected life. Strengthen them by your Holy Spirit to resist the evil one. Use them to bring your kingdom to earth. Amen!

Pray For Us: An Update From Chris

It has been long, brutal winter. As I write this, just days before Easter, it’s snowing outside!

But Spring is coming and it’s time to rally.

Please pray:

* for our Easter Service, that we bring tons of new people
* that Everyday people reengage energetically
* for momentum!

Father, shine on Everyday Church. Holy Spirit, provide a fresh wind of energy. As we lift Jesus up, draw many new people to yourself. Make this Spring a season of vibrant growth. Amen!

Pray For Us: An Update From Chris

For the first time in the history of our new church, offerings are very close to what we’ve projected. That may not sound like headline news, but it’s an important sign of health. We have a way yet to grow before we’re financially self-sufficient– we still very much depend on those of you who support us from afar– but we’re getting there. For all of you who join in our efforts by faithfully and consistently giving, thank you so much!

Please pray with me: Generous God, we give because you first gave us everything– even your Only Son. Thank you for moving in our young church to grow in our giving. May all those who give through Everyday Church experience your words, Jesus: “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38)
