Mark Your Calendar: The Mad Hatter’s Ball

We try to support local schools anyway we can. Sometimes that means offering free math tutoring or donating supplies. Once each year, it means dressing up like pirates and Dr. Suess characters and playing games with neighborhood kids!

If you love kids and/or have a flair for the dramatic, or if you’re just plain silly, please help us help them by running games, handing out prizes, making kids smile at The Mad Hatter’s Ball.

When: Oct 27th, 6:00p-9:00p

Where: Muscota New School, 4862 Broadway (map)

How to Participate: Please let Wendy know you’re coming so we can plan how many games to provide (wendy@everydaycc.com or 646-290-7779). Come (in costume!) by 6pm.

Love in Action

We’re going to put our money where our mouth is.

This Labor Day weekend, we’re donating close to $10,000 worth of school supplies to neighborhood teachers and classrooms. Our office is filling up with notebooks, crayons, pencils, disinfectant wipes, etc. We love our community and very much appreciate the important work our educators do, serving our children and shaping the next generation. And “let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth” (1 John 3:18).

You can be a part of this great day! We have literally thousands of items to sort and pack into bags for 130 teachers. Bring a friend and help us. Any teachers who come that Sunday will leave with a bag for their own classroom.

Here’s the plan:

Sunday, 9/2: We’ll meet at 11:00am for a very short service (about 1/2 hr) at 4862 Broadway (map).* We’ll pray for teachers and give them supplies, so invite any teachers you know along! Then we’ll all work together to sort and pack the supplies.

* This activity is not sponsored or endorsed by the New York City Department of Education or the City of New York.

Monday, 9/3: Have fun at our Labor Day Picnic!

Tuesday, 9/4: We’ll gather in the morning to load up vans and deliver the supplies to teachers during their first in-service day of this school year. Anyone who’s available is welcome to come help (contact us).

To make a contribution towards the cost of these supplies, see information about how to give to Everyday Church here: Give.

Change of Scenery

The Everyday Youth Group and some neighborhood kids from Uptown Soccer left the concrete jungle for, well, actual wilderness. Like, s’mores and swimming and campfire stories and bugs and stuff.

What’s All That Racquet?

Many thanks to our volunteers from Everyday Church and our partners from Southeast Christian Church for another excellent Tennis Clinic. Hopefully these kids will remember us when they win the US Open!
