New Teaching Series: Life Through New Lenses

Paradigms are like glasses. When you have incomplete paradigms about yourself or life in general, it’s like wearing glasses with the wrong prescription. That lens affects how you see everything else.” – Sean Covey

The apostle Paul in his letter to the multi-ethnic church in Corinth addressed some specific issues that the church was experiencing, unique to their culture and time.

Yet in 1 Corinthians there are important teachings for the church today on how the gospel is the new lens that Christ-followers must view every aspect of their lives through. In this series we will look at these teachings and discuss how they might be applied to our current time and culture.

When: Join us on Sundays at 11 a.m.

New Year, New Teaching Series: The Walk

The Christian life is often explained as a set of rules, a code of ethics, yet a better understanding of the life of a Christ follower is the metaphor of a walk or journey.

Scripture calls us “to walk in obedience, to walk humbly, to walk in the way of love.” Along this walk we are guided by the Holy Spirit and yet there are times when we struggle to know which way to turn, which path to take.

During this teaching series we will look at spiritual disciplines and practices that help us to be able to walk in step with Jesus.

We hope you can join us for this journey,  Sunday at 11 a.m. at 4862 Broadway (1st floor, cafeteria).

See you there!

Important Service Time Changes: No Gatherings Sunday 12/24 or 12/31

Hi there family, here’s just a friendly reminder that we won’t be officially gathering for the next two Sunday mornings (Christmas Eve, or New Year’s Eve) at Everyday. We will instead be meeting on:

 Saturday, Dec. 23rd  at 4:00 p.m.

4862 Broadway

(1st floor, cafeteria)

We’ll be celebrating the conclusion of Advent, and the arrival of Christmas with a family service and hope you can all join us! We’re changing from our typical Sunday morning gatherings for the next two weeks to give a much needed day off to the gracious logistics and security staff members who make our meetings possible, and also to give our volunteers some days to rest as well. Image result for merry christmas in different languages

God has been so faithful this year. Please take time to gather, celebrate, and stay in touch, with your ECC family in the coming weeks. We love you all dearly and are so grateful for all the ways you’re helping lead people into life-changing relationships at Everyday.

Our next Sunday gathering will be on January 7th at 11 a.m.

See you there!

Warmly,

Kate & team

New Teaching Series Starts Dec 3: Advent

We know that this world is not what God intended. Where is the peace, the shalom, the universal flourishing that Jesus’ Kingdom should bring? Do the normal distractions of the holiday season, the decorations, the gifts, the busyness, the glitz, do they really help comfort our souls?

Advent ( Adviento ) is the four week season of preparation for the arrival of Jesus to this world centuries ago. During this season we reflect on the expectation and anticipation of the light that was promised to enter the dark and suffering world through Jesus’ birth and the introduction of his Kingdom. This Advent we will be looking at the classic themes of hope, peace, joy and love that are made possible through Jesus’ birth and ultimately through Jesus’ Second Coming. It will be a time to reflect on the injustice and darkness that can overwhelm us today, and how the prophets of old cried out in anticipation that Jesus’ arrival brings hope that things are changing.

Esperanza, paz, alegría y amor…

….Hope, peace, joy and love.

Help Our Kids Stay Ready for School

Everyday Church is working together to provide uniforms for under-resourced kids who attend Baychester Middle School in the Bronx. One of our members, Liz Leebens, is one of the founding principals of the school. We would love to support the very important works she and her teachers do each day with the students. Our dream is to provide enough shirts and pants to cover the school’s need for the next year. Each shirt costs around $10 and each pair of pants around $20. We would love to provide 25 shirts and 25 pants for Baychester.

For the next four weeks you can make a donation to help us either on-line on our website, www.everydaycc.com or at our Sunday morning gatherings.
